Nightly Nugget: Napoleon complex

Napoleon is widely regarded today as a person of previously small stature. He even has an alleged inferiority complex named after him, described as affecting only short men. Despite all this posthumous ridicule, Napoleon was not actually that short. One reason for this misconception is that his height was recorded as 5 foot 2 inches in French feet at his death, which is actually about 5 foot 6 inches in the standard Imperial measurement system. This was about average for French men of that era. Furthermore, his nickname, "Le Petit Caporal" was in reference to his friendly and respectful nature towards his soldiers and not his height.
